Cosmetic surgery is all the rage and has long been nothing out of the ordinary – for both women and men. Many celebrities and influencers have long been known to have had their looks done. Not only lip injections but liposuction and Botox have also long since become mainstream.

Hair transplants are no longer exotic either. The only problem is that most people don’t have the budget of a celebrity or a big influencer. In Germany, a hair transplant can easily cost several thousand euros. But thanks to medical tourism, procedures like hair transplants have long since become affordable.

Why do people go to Turkey for a hair transplant?

Thailand, the Maldives, South Africa or the U.S.A. The places where you can undergo a hair transplant sound more like classic holiday destinations. But you don’t have to fly halfway around the world to get a hair transplant. Such procedures are also offered at affordable prices in other European countries and beyond.

Turkey is considered a stronghold for medical tourism, especially for hair transplants. Every day, countless people travel to the country on the Bosporus to have the bald spots on their heads filled in again. Ankara, Istanbul but also Izmir have meanwhile established themselves as metropolises for hair transplants.

There is a good reason for this: even in the early days, when the first hair was transplanted, pioneering work in this field was done in Turkey, which is why the best clinics and doctors can be found there today.

These clinics always work with the most modern methods and techniques, for example, the hair is transplanted exclusively with the modern FUE method and its further developments. The FUT method, which is often still used in Germany, is considered hopelessly outdated by the institutes in Turkey.

What is the FUE method?

In an FUE hair transplant – FUE means Follicular Unit Extraction – the grafts, i.e. the follicles in which the hair roots are located, are taken individually from the donor area, which was locally anaesthetised before the procedure.

This donor area is located on the back of the head between the ears. What is special about these follicles is that they are resistant to DHT, the main cause of hereditary hair loss. The removed grafts are then reinserted into the recipient area to fill in the bald spots there.

Further developments of this technique are, for example, the DHI Sapphire hair transplantation or the Sapphire hair transplantation. These two methods are of course also offered at the Cosmedica Clinic.

The procedure is explained here in a very simplified way. By the way, not only head hair can be transplanted with the FUE method. An eyebrow or beard hair transplant is also possible.

Why the favourable prices in Turkey

A hair transplant in Turkey is considerably less expensive than in Germany. But why is that? It is not because the doctors, nurses and other clinic staff are chronically underpaid. Rather, the cost of living in Turkey is much lower.

Rents, food, petrol and even medicines are available at much lower prices there. This explains why wage costs are also much lower than in the US or UK.

On the other hand, medical tourism is a major economic factor in Turkey. Competition between the individual clinics is correspondingly high. By the way, you notice this as soon as you enter one of the clinics.

Many of them look more like a luxury hotel than a hospital, even in the entrance area. In addition, the staff is very keen to make the patient’s stay as pleasant as possible. It is not for nothing that Turkish hospitality is legendary!

That’s good for the consumer – without compromising on quality. You don’t have to worry at all if you decide to have such a medical procedure in Turkey. Language barriers are usually not a problem either. Every clinic employs interpreters who are available every minute to answer the questions of their patients.

The advantages of Cosmedica Clinic in Istanbul

Cosmedica Clinic in Istanbul is considered one of the best clinics in Turkey for hair transplantation. Dr Levent Acar, the owner of the clinic, is a trained cosmetic surgeon and worked in very renowned clinics before he started his own business, some of which he also managed. He constantly attends further medical training to be able to offer his patients the highest standards at all times.

The pricing at Cosmedica Clinic is also clear. There are so-called all-inclusive packages. The hair transplant Turkey price includes not only the hair transplant, but also the hotel accommodation, the transfer service, the medication and various aids. Only the flights have to be booked by the patient.
