What is Sapphire FUE?

Sapphire FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is an advanced hair transplant technique that uses sapphire blades instead of steel or other materials for the incisions during the transplant process. These blades are incredibly precise, with a V-shaped design, allowing for smaller and more refined incisions, which is crucial for the successful transplantation of hair follicles.

How is it different to a FUE hair transplant?

Today, although the FUE technique has remained unchanged for a long time, surgical equipment and systems have developed rapidly.

Minimally invasive hair transplantation methods have reduced the healing process to a minimum, thanks to the modern equipment being used.

At Cosmedica Clinic, we use only the newest and best equipment for our hair transplant surgeries. In addition to our own research & development activities, we closely monitor the latest medical and hair loss treatment innovations.

Among these developments is the use of sapphire surgical instruments. Many of our patients have heard about this and ask us what this sapphire equipment is.

Sapphire blades are an innovative surgical tool that helps improve the classic FUE method. Micro Sapphire DHI has also been named after these blades. They have been developed to open smaller microchannels in the recipient area.

The quality and precision of these microchannels directly affect the final results of hair transplantation operations. Using a sapphire blade, which makes an incredibly sharp and smooth cut, reduces tissue damage to a minimum. The tip is made of V-shaped sapphire crystal, which is hundreds of times harder than the standard chisel-tipped steel blade.

Advantages of Sapphire FUE

State-of-the-art technique

Precision and accuracy

The sapphire blades used in this procedure are thinner and sharper than traditional steel blades, enabling the surgeon to create recipient sites with unparalleled precision. This precision ensures that the transplanted hair follicles fit naturally into the existing hairline, resulting in a seamless and aesthetically pleasing outcome.

Back to work in no time

Faster healing and recovery

Due to the smaller incisions made with sapphire blades, patients experience faster healing times compared to traditional FUE procedures. The reduced trauma to the scalp accelerates the recovery process, allowing individuals to return to their daily activities with minimal downtime.

Healthy donor area

Minimal scarring

Sapphire FUE leaves tiny, dot-like scars virtually undetectable to the naked eye. Unlike the linear scars of traditional FUE, these dots heal quickly and blend seamlessly into the surrounding scalp, further enhancing the natural appearance of the transplanted area.

Before and after

Natural results

Sapphire FUE provides natural-looking results because the transplanted hair follicles are meticulously placed. The outcome is a full head of hair that looks entirely natural, even upon close inspection.

FUE vs. Sapphire FUE

What are advantages of the spear-tipped Sapphire blade?

As you can see in the image, the incisions made with the sapphire tip are much finer. This way, the healing process is shorter, and the scabbing of the wounds is reduced. We are confident that the Sapphire FUE method dramatically increases the patient’s comfort during the recovery period after a hair transplantation.

01

1. Follicular Unit Extraction

Using a micropunch, the surgeon extracts individual hair follicles from the donor area, typically at the back of the head. These follicles are then carefully preserved for transplantation.

2. Sapphire incisions

With the help of the Sapphire scalpel, the surgeon creates tiny channels in the balding or thinning areas of the scalp.

3. Implantation

The grafts are implanted into the prepared channels in the recipient area using forceps.
